Image optimization is free forever — no account, no upload, no catch — including every format, quality and resize control, metadata stripping, and all 8 built-in presets — 50 images a day, in batches of up to 10 files.
Video optimization, unlimited batch sizes, target file size, and custom presets are Optimo Pro Lifetime: one payment of $19, yours for good — no subscription, no renewal. Every download includes three free video conversions, so you can check it does what you need before paying anything.
No. Every byte stays on your machine — Optimo has no servers for your media, no sign-in, and nothing to upload to.
For completeness, the app makes exactly two kinds of outbound request, neither of which touches your files: an update check (disable it in Settings), and — if you have activated Optimo Pro Lifetime — a licence check with our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy, at most about once a week, so a refunded or revoked key stops unlocking Pro. It sends your licence key and a machine name, nothing else. The free tier never makes that call.
macOS doesn’t — the mac builds are Developer ID signed and notarized by
Apple, so Optimo opens cleanly. Just drag it to Applications and eject the
disk image before launching, or macOS runs a temporary copy and your
settings won’t stick. Windows SmartScreen still says “Windows protected
your PC” because the Windows build isn’t signed yet (a certificate is on the
roadmap) — click More info → Run anyway. Linux AppImage:
chmod +x Optimo-*.AppImage.
Images: PNG, JPG, WebP, AVIF, TIFF, GIF, BMP, ICO, SVG. Videos: MP4, WebM, MKV, MOV, AVI, GIF. Codecs: H.264, H.265, VP8, VP9, AV1 (video); AAC, MP3, Opus, Vorbis, FLAC (audio). Hardware acceleration on H.264/H.265 via NVENC, VideoToolbox, or VAAPI when available.
Windows 10+ (x64), macOS 11+ (Apple Silicon or Intel), or a modern desktop Linux (AppImage or .deb, x86_64). ~150 MB on disk after install. FFmpeg is bundled — nothing extra to install.
No. It is a single payment of $19 (regular price $29) and it does not renew. There is no account, no seat count, and nothing to cancel later.
“Lifetime” means the version you buy and every update to it. If there is ever a major new version we may charge for that separately, but we will not quietly start billing you for the one you already own.
Every installation can convert three videos at no cost, so you can see the result on your own footage before deciding.
They are a one-time allowance, not a trial: they do not expire, and waiting does not give you more. Once they are used, image optimization keeps working exactly as before — nothing is removed, and no file you have already made is affected.
Yes. All processing happens on your computer, so images and video convert with no internet connection at all. The app bundles its own fonts and encoders, so nothing is fetched while you use it.
The only time Optimo talks to the internet is if you activate Optimo Pro Lifetime: it checks your licence key with our payment provider, and re-checks it about once a day so a refunded key stops unlocking Pro. The free tier never makes that request.
Yes. Activating registers that installation, and you can deactivate it from inside the app — Settings → License → Deactivate — which frees the activation to use somewhere else.
Reinstalling on the same machine is fine too. Keep the key itself private: it is what proves the purchase.
Optimo checks for updates on its own and installs them in the background; you can turn that off in Settings → Updates, or check manually there any time.
macOS builds are signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so updates install without security prompts. Updates are free — they are part of what you already bought.
You can have your money back in full within 14 days of purchase, no reason required. Reply to your Lemon Squeezy receipt — they are the merchant of record and can refund you directly — or use the support form.
Between the free tier and the three free video conversions, you can check Optimo does what you need before paying anything.
In Optimo, open Settings → Diagnostics → Copy diagnostics, then paste the result into the support form with a description of what happened.
It copies your version, your operating system, and the recent app log with file paths removed. Nothing is sent anywhere until you paste it — it just goes on your clipboard. That report usually tells us exactly what went wrong without a round of back-and-forth.
